Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne was honored with the 2,731th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday.
Lavigne received the star at a ceremony held at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard. She was awarded her star in the category of Recording.
In her speech, the multiple Grammy nominee said, “Today I love making music more than ever. I feel so inspired.” She thanked her family and her fiancé rapper Mod Sun.
Lavigne, who showed to the audience a blown-up photograph of her taken at the age of 16 at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, said she hopes her star will inspire the next small-town 16-year-old who “comes to Hollywood one day full of hopes and dreams.”
Lavigne said she never imagined she would receive this honor 20 years after making her music career debut.
Speaking on the occasion as guest speaker, Machine Gun Kelly said Lavigne was “an inspiration for a generation of kids” like himself.
Beyond selling 40 million albums with 12.5 million units sold in the U.S. alone, Lavigne has notched eight Grammy Award nominations and received eight Juno Awards.
